The San Francisco Bay Area Darfur Coalition (SFBADC) is an alliance of diverse organizations and individuals working to end genocide in Darfur, help facilitate peace in all of Sudan, and further anti-genocide strategies. Darfur_map

SFBADC’s activities emphasize awareness and education about the root causes of the current situation in Sudan and advocacy with the US government. We make numerous presentations to middle and high school students, colleges, civic organizations, and faith-based groups. SFBADC organizes free open-to-the-public

events with speakers, films and discussions throughout the year. We promote activism to engage the U.S. government to lead the international community in enforcing the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005 (CPA) and end violence throughout Sudan.

SFBADC pioneered “Darfur Friday”, weekly action alerts to its participants.

Our leadership is in ongoing communication (by correspondence, phone and personal visits) with the offices of California Senators Feinstein and Boxer and SF Bay Area representatives in Congress on issues regarding Sudan and anti-genocide measures.

SFBADC is one of many similar community coalitions around the United States formed for the same purposes and with whom we collaborate on various initiatives from time to time. We also work with ENOUGH!, Genocide Intervention Network and the Save Darfur Coalition; the three major national organizations working for peace in Sudan and the prevention of genocide and mass atrocities.

On August 14, 2009, the San Francisco community came together to raise awareness of the refugees in Chad.
